The Netflix show about Jeffrey Dahmer: Inside the haunted apartment of a serial killer

Warning: graphic content.

Serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer’s home looked modest to the unsuspecting eye, but several chills were found inside.

Dahmer was convicted of 15 murders after killing 17 men and boys during a rampage between 1978 and 1991.

This is now being documented in a popular Netflix series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. The Ryan Murphy-produced series is currently number two on Netflix Australia.

During the investigation, officers searched Dahmer’s Milwaukee apartment before releasing images of the evidence they found.

They discovered dozens of graphic Polaroids depicting necrophilia, gruesome altar plans and vats of acid Dahmer used to dissolve the remains of his victims.

Hydrochloric acid

When they broke into Dahmer’s apartment, officers were hit by the smell of “rotting” flesh and industrial chemicals upon entering, Salon reported.

Dahmer reportedly told his former neighbor, Pamela Bass, that the smell was caused by the freezer.

One of Dahmer’s victims, Errol Lindsey, was drugged in April 1991 before he drilled a hole in his head and poured hydrochloric acid into it.

Dahmer is said to have experimented with murder techniques but failed.

Lindsey woke up complaining of a headache before being strangled to death.

Just a month later, Dahmer repeated the experiment, drilling a hole in the head of 14-year-old Konerak Sinshasomphone before pouring acid into his skull.

According to Crime and Investigation, this was part of an attempt to turn him into a “compliant zombie.”

He testified that skulls, frozen body parts and severed heads were stored in barrels filled with acid.

According to Ranker, Dahmer also used bleach to whiten the remains.

His father showed him how to bleach and preserve animal bones.

According to the Independent, Dahmer collected road kills as a child so he could dissect them.

When questioned, Dahmer admitted that he ate his victims.

He claimed: “At first it was just curiosity, then it became compulsive.”

Homicide detective Pat Kennedy found a human head in a cardboard container in the refrigerator before spotting several condiments.

He recalled, “There were condiments: mustard, ketchup, A-1 sauce, that kind of thing.”

While combing Dahmer’s lair, police officer Rolf Mueller discovered dozens of Polaroids of naked, murdered and dismembered victims.

The chilling images, believed to number at least 80, were found in his dresser.

Clear images showed Dahmer having sex with the corpses of some of his dead victims.

Dahmer was inside the apartment when Mueller unearthed the graphic images.

He tried to run away from his home, but the police caught him.

Dahmer told officers, “I should be dead for what I did.”

Police also discovered a blood-soaked mattress and tools, such as a hammer, and saw where Dahmer mutilated his victims.

Altar plans

The child-like images showed where Dahmer planned to decorate an altar with the skulls of his victims.

Painted skeletons would stand on either side of a long back table filled with heads.

His defense attorney, Wendy Patrickus, said Dahmer would tell him to sit and watch “his little shrine to himself.”

Dahmer, who was known as the Milwaukee Monster, killed men between the ages of 14 and 32.

Many of them were gay ethnic minorities and his killing spree lasted over 10 years.

Dahmer cheated on his first victim, Steven Hicks, after luring him back into drinking.

He hit Hicks with a dumbbell before choking him.

Dahmer often strangled and drugged his victims.

Dahmer was sentenced to 900 years in prison before being beaten to death by an inmate in November 1994.

Killer scorned

Christopher Scarver, 25, was admitted to Wisconsin’s Columbia Correctional Facility around the same time Dahmer arrived in 1992.

In an interview in 2015 New York PostScarver revealed that he despised Dahmer while they were locked up.

He claimed the madman taunted other inmates by making body parts out of food and using ketchup as blood.

He said, “He would put them in places where people would be.”

Scarver confronted Dahmer about his killings and was “furiously disgusted.”

Dahmer tried to escape before being hit twice in the head with a metal bar.

He died of his injuries after being taken to hospital.

Scarver claimed that God told him to carry out the killing.

He was given two additional life sentences and remains behind bars.

Decades after his murder, Dahmer’s killing is now the subject of a new Netflix series.

Actor Evan Peters plays the serial killer.

The series contains 10 episodes and premieres on September 21.
